The Clendenin Scholars Program has allowed me to study the interplay between social work and the medical field. I am grateful for the opportunity to complete an internship with Wellstar Health System at Kennestone Hospital this fall, where I will be working with the Care Coordination Department on the trauma and medical surgery inpatient units.

The Clendenin Scholars Program has given me the opportunity to conduct research on the effects of media on survivors of Islamic State (ISIS) captivity. This research recently required me to travel to Iraqi-Kurdistan and conduct in-person interviews with survivors of captivity, Yezidi community members and religious leaders, journalists and humanitarian aid workers.
